A mouse escapade

This weird picture was captured while talking via Skype to my precious sister in Paraguay. Karl was driving home from a wedding rehearsal around 10 p.m. and a mouse peaked out from under the couch several times to see what I was doing. Well, I pride myself in not being a "girly girl" so I like being able to handle spiders, bugs, crickets, toads, etc. With the exception of spiders in my bedroom (I don't like thinking about them dropping down on me while I sleep), no big deal. Mice, on the other hand, freak me out. I think I don't like how they surprise me and I don't know where they're going to run. I feel the absolute necessity to get my feet off the ground--literally. And some small screaming is usually involved as well. So, that's what I'm doing here in this picture crouching in my chair as Fiefel runs around in my living room. I'm such a wimp.
Garage sale plans are going well. My precious friend Shelley is pulling through as well as my Paraguay trip/St. Mark friend Linda. Thanks, guys. I'm excited to see what's going to happen (and I'm excited to get all this extra stuff we don't need out of our house!) I actually told Karl the other night, "I think the amount of clothes we have in this house is probably a sin." And I believe it. Speaking of that...
Last month I talked about a study I was doing about poverty called Hope Lives. Today, following Shelley's lead, I thought it would be really neat to get some people to do it with me via the Internet. So, I know of a couple of interested parties via my adoption yahoo group and wanted to do a shout out here as well. If you're interested in starting this 5 week study with us, get the book and let me know. I'll probably have a weekly blog about it where we can discuss the reflection questions...I'm not really sure, but I like the idea of discussing with others the topic of poverty, getting to use some of my stagnant English teaching abilities, and being moved to action (hopefully!) with some friends on a crucial topic.
Goodnight to you all. May your homes be safe and mouse-free.

I hate mice too. In lubbock we set out traps and sticky pads and poison and that killed the dumb ones. but once we had weeded out those we had super inteligent ones that would not die. They lived in the piano and at night we could hear them hitting the strings making notes! It reminded me of a haunted house!

I am interested in your internet book study. I have really wanted to read that book and this will give me a reason to get off my duff and go get it. :)

Also, I am really excited that you have picked a name for your daughter. I can't wait to find out what it is. I'm hoping your referral comes soon!

Alyssa told me right after it happened, so I'm glad to know that no harm came to you. I told her you need to go get your hunter, but he wasn't home yet.

I had to wash the shirts...;) It's GOT to come soon, right?

The mouse thing freaked me out. I too am not scared easily by bugs, BUT mice make me shudder. Even the thought of them. And squirrels. They are just big rats with fluffy tails and I don't like them.

ah, I love the fall when creepy mice invade the home- NOT! I don't like mice either. I saw some evidence of a mouse this week- YIKES!!! The pest man came, now I have traps, but they are empty...

And to think of all those times you have teased me for being petrified of mice.:) Josh still hasn't caught whatever is making a home in our wall. He thinks it may be a mouse but I told him if we have mice that are that big we are most definitely moving!:) Waiting for the phone call!!!:)

I had to come to terms dealing with mice after the divorce. So now, they don't bother me. What bothers me is BATS. Craig was like "aren't you going to help?"
I, of course, was hiding under the covers with precious little CoCo and I told him quite firmly I DON"T DO BATS. He found that shocking--silly man. Miss you!
